BRATISLAVA – Renewing solidarity and cohesion within the EU, stabilising the Middle East, re-evaluating the relationship between the West and Russia and tackling propaganda and growing radicalism in Europe. Current issues of global security and cooperation will determine the content of the forthcoming 11th edition of GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum – an international security conference, which shall be held on 15 – 17 April in Bratislava.

During the 11 years of its existence, GLOBSEC has become one of the most prestigious security fora in the world and its role next year will be enhanced by the upcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw. Over a thousand guests will discuss hot topics that are set to dominate the Warsaw Summit. The future of the common European project is at stake, as the UK put its reform demands on the table, and the migration crisis is not ebbing. GLOBSEC thus again becomes the platform for countries’ officials to consult their respective opinions ahead of the NATO Summit.

GLOBSEC 2016 also aims to introduce new ideas for a possible solution of the problems concerning the Middle East, to contribute to the curbing of rising radicalism and to reality-check our current attitude towards Russia and to propose more efficient approaches.

“The current security situation in Europe and the Middle East is putting our political and security paradigms to a tough test as we speak,” says GLOBSEC founder Róbert Vass. “We feel extremely rewarded that GLOBSEC can again provide the opportunity to look for vitally urgent answers,” he adds.

More than a conference

The three-day discussion forum shall be the backbone of GLOBSEC 2016. Apart from that, GLOBSEC aims to convey its most important thoughts via the GLOBSEC CITY TALKS platform, which brings GLOBSEC’s most prominent speakers to the broader expert and lay community in three Slovak towns – Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Košice. GLOBSEC also regularly hosts dozens of young leaders and experts from all over the world who can join debates or specially tailored workshops where they gain valuable experience but also significantly contribute to the Forum.

GLOBSEC shall also again become the ground for a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings of top politicians and expert groups. In its fruitful past, GLOBSEC has hosted many top speakers such as British Prime Minister David Cameron, a group of US Senators lead by John McCain, Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Donald Tusk, Zbigniew Brzezinski, or former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
